On Tuesday, Incarnate Word beat Savio 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Shamrocks in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.
Incarnate Word had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 27-29, 25-12, 25-14, 25-11.
Incarnate Word relied on the efforts of Lucia Lopez, who had 18 digs and two aces, and Abby Ruelas, who had three digs and two aces. That's the most digs Ruelas has posted since back in September.
They weren't the only good servers: Incarnate Word was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. Michael's came up short against Burnet on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
St. Michael's was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Burnet work for it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 22-25, 27-25, 25-23.
St. Michael's loss dropped their record down to 30-12-1. As for Incarnate Word, their win bumped their record up to 16-22.
Incarnate Word might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from St. Michael's in their previous meeting on October 7th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Warriors' Frida Hernandez, who had 25 digs and three assists.
