Football Recap: Spanaway Lake Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Spanaway Lake was the 40-20 winner over Kentwood when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sentinels lost 28-6 to the Conquerors on Thursday. The Sentinels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 20-0.

A big part of Kentwood's victory came down to the chemistry between Brandon Tagle and his top target Trevon Mayfield. Tagle threw for 173 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes while Mayfield picked up 126 receiving yards and three scores. The dominant performance also gave Tagle a new career-high in rushing yards (47).

Spanaway Lake's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Kentwood, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Spanaway Lake will be playing at home against Federal Way at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kentwood, they are taking a road trip to square off against Auburn Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Conquerors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
