After each having a week off, the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets and the Bleckley County Royals will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Jeff Davis is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Fitzgerald last Friday. The Yellowjackets took a hard 35-21 fall against the Purple Hurricane. The Yellowjackets have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Jeff Davis might have lost, but man, Ian Griffin was a machine: he rushed for 85 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Bleckley County got themselves on the board against Central two weeks ago, but Central never followed suit. They took their game with ease, bagging a 49-0 win over the Chargers. Considering the Royals have won six matchups by more than 21 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jeff Davis better keep an eye on Brody Fleming. He was instrumental in Bleckley County's win, throwing for 324 yards and five TDs while completing 75% of his passes. What's more, Fleming racked up 156.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Octavius Tate did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 78 receiving yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bleckley County's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Terrollieo Brimidge and Willy Walters, who racked up four sacks between them. Jireh Campbell was another major factor on D, making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Bleckley County's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.3 points on average over those games. As for Jeff Davis, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
