Basketball Recap: Sullivan East Comes Up Short

Sullivan East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by the Tennessee Vikings 77-28. The contest marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Sullivan East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eli Hubbard posted eight points and seven rebounds. Logan Shuttle was another key player, putting up four points.

Leading Tennessee to victory were Colin Brown and Reed Miller. Brown went 9 for 19 en route to 25 points and three steals, while Miller almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Brown's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jack Richardson also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Sullivan East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Tennessee, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which somehow still isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season.

Sullivan East will head out to square off against Unicoi County at 8:00 p.m. on January 24th. Sullivan East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. Tennessee has already played their next contest, a 68-63 win against Elizabethton on the 21st.
