Basketball Recap: Nixon-Smiley Takes a Loss

Nixon-Smiley came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 64-39 to the Poth Pirates. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost eight in a row.

Nixon-Smiley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Poth, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nixon-Smiley will take on Goliad at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Poth, they will square off against Karnes City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
