Basketball Recap: Gates County Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Gates County couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Duplin Rebels on Friday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Duplin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tateyawna Faison, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 21 boards. Faison is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addy Higginbotham, who posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Gates County's defeat dropped their record down to 23-3. As for North Duplin, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.

Gates County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Duplin, they are taking a road trip to take on Northside - Pinetown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northside - Pinetown comes in on 18 and North Duplin on nine.
