Softball Recap: Mountain Island Charter Drops Season-High Score on Bradford Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Island Charter). They put the hurt on the Bradford Prep Bears with a sharp 21-1 victory on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Izzy Leppert made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reagan Hart was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kasey Haigler also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Mountain Island Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bradford Prep only managed three hits.

Mountain Island Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Bradford Prep, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Bradford Prep will challenge Pine Lake Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain Island Charter will be paying especially close attention to the Bears' game: after the Bears face off against the Pride, they'll take on Mountain Island Charter again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
