Softball Game Preview: Garfield Bulldogs vs. Prairie Falcons

The Garfield Bulldogs will challenge the Prairie Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Garfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.

Garfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They beat Seattle Prep by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-1. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Sammy Breckenridge looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sarah Lessig was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mae Valenta, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Garfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 18-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 27 runs the game before, Prairie was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gig Harbor.

Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Garfield, their win bumped their record up to 22-6.

Garfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Prairie when the teams last played back in May of 2019, winning 6-1. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
