Softball Recap: Miami East's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to 13

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Miami East walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Anna Rockets with a sharp 12-4 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jacqueline Kadel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Miami East let Jaila Thurman and Whitni Enis run wild. Thurman fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4, while Enis went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Enis has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorgia Roeth, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Miami East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anna only managed three hits.

The win (which was Miami East's 13th in a row) raised their record to 24-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Anna, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-10.

Coming up, Miami East will challenge Williamsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 2.1, the Wildcats 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Anna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
