Baseball Recap: Dover-Eyota Has No Trouble Against Zumbrota-Mazeppa

Dover-Eyota won the last time they faced Zumbrota-Mazeppa and things went their way on Monday too. The Eagles blew past the Cougars 7-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Mat Matejka made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Caden Haag was incredible, going 2-for-5 with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyeson Mullikan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Dover-Eyota now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dover-Eyota will face off against La Crescent at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they will host Byron at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
