Burke County waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Josey Eagles with a sharp 15-5 victory. Considering the Bears have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Malia Washington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braylin Fare, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and a triple. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Maddox Russell, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Burke County didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Josey only tossed six.

Burke County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. As for Josey, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burke County will venture away from home to face off against Lincoln County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Burke County knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten run or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Lincoln County likes a good challenge. As for Josey, they will head out to take on Burke County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
