Soccer Game Preview: McMinn Central vs. Sweetwater

McMinn Central hasn't had much luck against Sweetwater recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Chargers will head out to challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, McMinn Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Harriman. With that win, McMinn Central brought their scoring average up to 2.7 goals per game.

They hit Harriman with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Bradley Mayfield (2), William Mayfield, and Damian Jaimes.

Meanwhile, Sweetwater entered their tilt with Tellico Plains on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 10-2 victory. The matchup marked Sweetwater's most dominant win of the season so far.

Sweetwater pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those three contests. As for McMinn Central, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

McMinn Central suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Sweetwater in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
