Baseball Game Preview: Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets vs. Ramona Bulldogs

The Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets are taking a road trip to square off against the Ramona Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Palo Verde Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Central by a score of 7-3.

Meanwhile, Ramona entered their tilt with Palo Verde Valley on Friday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Yellow Jackets. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Alex Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Derek Taylor and Tallon Ogilive did most of the damage at the plate: Taylor went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Ogilive went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Bedia, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Ramona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Ramona's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Palo Verde Valley, their win bumped their record up to 16-13-1.

Palo Verde Valley suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Ramona when the teams last played on Friday. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
