Basketball Recap: Janiya Pillow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Simeon over Whitney Young

Simeon played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Whitney Young Dolphins, falling 59-33. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Dolphins: they've now lost six in a row.

Simeon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Janiya Pillow, who posted 15 points and six rebounds. Pillow continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Dijiona Berrien was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

It was another big night for Destiny Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds for Whitney Young. Jackson's afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Alana Shields, who had five points and five steals.

Simeon's loss dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Whitney Young, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Simeon nor Whitney Young have any future games scheduled.
