Soccer Game Preview: Willows vs. Colusa

Willows hasn't had much luck against Colusa recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Honkers will challenge the RedHawks at 5:30 p.m. Willows has given up an average of 4.1 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Willows fell victim to Winters and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Warriors. While losing is never fun, Willows can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1048th, while Winters are ranked 178th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Colusa made sure to put some goals up on the board against Maxwell on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-2. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Colusa's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Yandel Ornelas and Eric Gonzalez scored all four of Colusa's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Willows' loss dropped their record down to 3-14-1. As for Colusa, they moved to 5-11-2 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

Willows suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Colusa when the teams last played back in January. Can the Honkers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
