Basketball Game Preview: Panguitch Bobcats vs. Wayne Badgers

Panguitch is 10-0 against Wayne since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Panguitch Bobcats will take on the Wayne Badgers at 7:00 p.m. Panguitch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Wayne likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Panguitch took on Milford on Wednesday. Panguitch came out on top against Milford by a score of 59-51. 59 seems to be a good number for the Bobcats as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Panguitch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daxton Miller led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Miller is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Remme Chappell was another key player, going 7 for 9 on his way to 17 points along with six boards and four blocks.

Panguitch was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milford only racked up 11 assists.

Meanwhile, Wayne came up short against Valley on Wednesday and fell 53-43. The Badgers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Panguitch will have to keep a close watch on Tristin Martinez and Hunter Robins, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wayne's prior game. Martinez posted ten points and six rebounds, while Robins earned ten points and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Martinez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Russell VanDyke, who had seven points.

Panguitch pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Wayne, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-11.

Panguitch was able to grind out a solid victory over Wayne in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 54-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Panguitch since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
