Football Recap: Tokay's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Tokay dropped to 6-3 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Stagg Delta Kings by a score of 24-21. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Delta Kings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Tokay lost, don't look at Amire Fleming. Despite the final result, he rushed for 193 yards and two scores. Fleming also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack, making 11 total tackles, and defending one pass.

Tokay didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alex Hernandez and Ryan Evans. Hernandez has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last three times he's played.

As for Stagg, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points over those games.

Darnell Holmes was his usual excellent self, rushing for 214 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Tokay has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Weston Ranch on the 30th. As for Stagg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-0 defeat against Chavez on the 30th.
