Basketball Recap: Ian Cooksey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tippecanoe Valley over Fort Wayne South Side

Tippecanoe Valley was the 67-52 winner over Fort Wayne South Side when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings fell 55-48 to the Fort Wayne South Side Archers on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Archers are ranked 15th).

Tippecanoe Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ian Cooksey, who went 7 of 13 en route to 19 points. What's more, Cooksey also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Stephen Akase, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Wayne South Side to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayvon Irby, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 15 points. Demarcus Barr was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Tippecanoe Valley now has a losing record at 1-2.

Tippecanoe Valley has already played their next contest, a 68-21 victory against Knox on the 6th. As for Fort Wayne South Side, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-39 win against Fort Wayne Snider on the 6th.
