Soccer Game Preview: Warren vs. Harlan

Warren hasn't had much luck against Harlan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Warren Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Harlan Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Warren comes in on six and Harlan on five.

If Harlan heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Warren took over last week. Warren came out on top in a nail-biter against Sotomayor on Wednesday, sneaking past 2-1. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the WILDCATS are ranked 598th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kam Guerra and Alexander De Los Santos scored both of Warren's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Meanwhile, Harlan kept a clean sheet against Taft on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Raiders. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly two goals.

Harlan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. As for Warren, their victory bumped their record up to 17-2.

Warren skirted past Harlan 3-2 in their previous meeting back in February. Will Warren repeat their success, or does Harlan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
