Recap: Spoto Spartans vs. Lennard Longhorns
The Spoto Spartans lost against the Lennard Longhorns back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Spoto suffered a tough 51-27 loss at the hands of Lennard.
Spoto's loss came despite strong showings from Nathan Richardson and Z'orey Cotton. Richardson threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, while Cotton picked up 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Lennard got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amari Sampson out in front who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Lennard also got a significant boost from Gavin Fields , who ran away from the competition to the tune of 129 yards.
Lennard's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 7.5 times. The heavy lifting was done by Dominic Smith and Elijah Darcueil who racked up 5.5 sacks between them.
Spoto's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Lennard, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Spoto will be playing at home against Freedom at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Freedom comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Lennard, they will head out on the road to face off against Armwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Armwood will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
