Softball Recap: Nazareth Academy Roadrunners vs. Serena Huskers
Nazareth Academy had lost four straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 13-14 to make it five. They fell just short of the Serena Huskers by a score of 4-2. If the Roadrunners were looking for revenge after losing 10-6 to the Huskers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Serena, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.
For Serena's part, Cassie Walsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Maddie Young and Finley Brodbeck did most of the damage at the plate: Young went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Brodbeck went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Brodbeck has launched this season. Another player making a difference was RayElle Brennan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Nazareth Academy will challenge Montini Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Serena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
