Basketball Game Preview: Holmes Aces vs. Pamlico County Hurricanes

The Holmes Aces are taking a road trip to take on the Pamlico County Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Friday, Holmes came up short against Gates County and fell 55-47. While the Aces didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Red Barons 18-13 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Holmes had strong showings from Brandon Cherry, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points, and Tucker Baldwin, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Cherry's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Walston, who had six points.

Meanwhile, Pamlico County was beaten by New Bern 75-47 on Tuesday.

Having lost for the first time this season, Holmes fell to 2-1. As for Pamlico County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Holmes came up short against Pamlico County in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 55-44. Can Holmes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
