Recap: Denmark-Olar Vikings vs. Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks
The Denmark-Olar Vikings can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 74-46 victory over Blackville-Hilda. Given Denmark-Olar's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Blackville-Hilda is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Denmark-Olar got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Treveon Hinton out in front who scored 29 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hinton has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tykeen Ross, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds.
Blackville-Hilda lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kaiden Aiken, who scored 18 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Aiken scored 15 or more points. Arkel Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
The victory was the third in a row for Denmark-Olar, bringing their record for this year to 16-5. As for Blackville-Hilda, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denmark-Olar will square off against Wagener-Salley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Denmark-Olar is facing Wagener-Salley at the right time seeing as Wagener-Salley is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Blackville-Hilda, they will head out on the road to challenge North at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North is coming into the match with 11 straight victories at home, meaning Blackville-Hilda will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
