Baseball Recap: Marshall Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mountain View

Marshall not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Mountain View Vikings. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Michael Gerst looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Nate Callaway and Caleb Thatcher did most of the damage at the plate: Callaway went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI, while Thatcher went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave Callaway a new career-high. George Jennings also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Marshall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Marshall is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. Mountain View now has a losing record of 5-6.
