Softball Game Preview: Prattville Christian Academy Panthers vs. Ragland Purple Devils

The Prattville Christian Academy Panthers will take on the Ragland Purple Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Prattville Christian Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Last Tuesday, Prattville Christian Academy got the win against Stanhope Elmore by a conclusive 12-5. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Prattville Christian Academy got a great performance from Laura Nesmith as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Nesmith has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Saniyah Weaver was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-5. Sara Payton Schmidt was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Ragland came up short against Jacksonville on Friday and fell 6-1. The Purple Devils haven't had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Ragland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesslyn Carlise, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Prattville Christian Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Ragland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
