Football Recap: Houston Tigers vs. Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish
If Houston was feeling good fresh off their 42-20 takedown of Pierce City last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers took a 41-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish on Friday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Houston's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron McCarthy, who rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown. Tucker Venn was in the mix too, providing the Tigers with two TDs.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Houston, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Venn, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
