Soccer Recap: Mayfair Comes Up Short

Mayfair lost against Bishop Amat back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mayfair Monsoons lost 8-0 to the Bishop Amat Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Monsoons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 856th, while the Lancers are ranked 39th).

This is the second loss in a row for Mayfair and nudges their season record down to 2-8-1. As for Bishop Amat, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayfair will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gahr at 3:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Bishop Amat, they will finish 2024 at home by hosting Moorpark at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Amat is on a five-game streak of home wins, Moorpark a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the pitch.
