Softball Recap: Brearley Comes Up Short

Brearley came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Westfield Blue Devils by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Brearley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Westfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Brearley will face off against Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westfield, they will square off against Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils are facing the Minutemen at the right time seeing as the Minutemen are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
