Poplarville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Forest by a score of 43-34. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Tylan Keys had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 195 yards and four TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 195 rushing yards.
Poplarville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Semaj Jamison and Trac Smith.
Meanwhile, McComb was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Leake Central 41-40. The win almost wasn't to be: the Tigers were down 28-13 in the second quarter.
McComb's win came from a few key players Poplarville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Broderick Peters, who rushed for 42 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Those 42 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
McComb's defensive line made their presence known, laying out Dorian Hutchins three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cameron Hackett, Peters, and Anthony Tow Truck Alexander, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Leake Central's side was Hackett, who picked up a sack, made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Poplarville's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for McComb, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Poplarville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 291.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like McComb struggles in that department as they've been averaging 147.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Poplarville and McComb were almost perfectly matched up in their previous matchup back in October, but Poplarville suffered an agonizing 35-34 defeat. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Tigers' Tramarion Davis, who threw for 270 yards and five TDs. Now that the Hornets know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
