Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bailey Bequette and Brooklynn Eklund Lead Laurel to Victory

Laurel barely beat Lockwood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Locomotives were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the LIONS on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Locomotives, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Laurel was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-18, 25-20.

Laurel was led to victory by Brooklynn Eklund and Bailey Bequette. Eklund had 17 kills and ten digs, while Bequette had 12 digs and three assists. Eklund is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

When it comes to explaining why Lockwood lost, don't look at Tessa Ketterling. Despite the final result, she had 18 digs and one assist.

The win made it two in a row for Laurel and bumps their season record up to 3-1-1. As for Lockwood, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Laurel will challenge Billings Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lockwood, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against East Helena on the 20th.
