Softball Recap: Calhoun Red Devils vs. Wirt County Tigers
Calhoun was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 16-5 to the Wirt County Tigers. Calhoun was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wirt County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March.
For Wirt County's part, Ali Knight was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Knight was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Harley Boyce was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Kaylee Copeland was another key contributor, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and a run.
