Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Harrison Central

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Harrison Central walked away with it. They never let the Pearl Pirates get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Rebels have posted since April 8th.

Not much got past Brooke Shannon, who gave up just two hits to keep Pearl off the board.

On the hitting side, Harrison Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Melody Conner, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Harrison Central and bumps their season record up to 16-16. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Pearl, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.

Harrison Central will square off against Petal at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Rebels 3.7, the Panthers 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Pearl does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
