Basketball Game Preview: Paxton Bobcats vs. Poplar Springs Atomics

Paxton is 9-1 against Poplar Springs since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Paxton Bobcats will host the Poplar Springs Atomics at 6:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Paxton is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Walton just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braves.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Garrett Lowry, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cade Stewart, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Poplar Springs suffered their closest defeat since December 9, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Liberty County by a score of 47-44.

Paxton's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11. As for Poplar Springs, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-15.

Paxton beat Poplar Springs 45-32 when the teams last played on January 3rd. Does Paxton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Poplar Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
