Softball Recap: Hayesville Yellowjackets vs. Cherokee Braves
Hayesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 12-1 to the Cherokee Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 two weeks ago.

Micalynn McClure put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and ten unearned) runs off nine hits. McClure was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
McClure wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Peck, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Brianna Patterson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Hayesville's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Cherokee, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Coming up, Hayesville will face off against Robbinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cherokee, they will square off against Swain County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Braves 3.9, the Maroon Devils 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
