Softball Recap: Worthington Trojans vs. Marshall Tigers

If Worthington was feeling good off their 13-3 takedown of Waseca last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Worthington Trojans fell victim to a tough 12-2 defeat at the hands of the Marshall Tigers on Tuesday. Worthington has not had much luck with Marshall recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

For Marshall's part, Harley Beek made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Beek was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Marshall let Brielle Riess and Claire Allen loose on the outfield. As for Marshall, they will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against St. Peter at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Marshall: 2.4, St. Peter: 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
