Baseball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Douglass' Winning Streak

Douglass dropped their record down to 7-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They lost 21-1 to the South River Seahawks. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Douglass saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arrington Price, III, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for South River, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On South River's side, Jason Tebbe looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Tebbe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South River let Deshawn Branch and Gavin Kunst run wild. Branch went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Kunst got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Branch a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Rotondo, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run.

Coincidentally, Douglass and South River will both be playing Guilford Park the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Panther at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Seahawks will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
