Basketball Game Preview: Gunn Titans vs. Milpitas Trojans

Gunn and Milpitas are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Gunn Titans will take on the Milpitas Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Gunn strolled past KIPP San Jose Collegiate with points to spare, taking the game 49-31.

Meanwhile, Milpitas came tearing into Wednesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 56-49. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Spartans are ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Milpitas' victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Gunn, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Gunn came up short against Milpitas in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 69-62. Can Gunn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
