Basketball Recap: Nebraska Lutheran Comes Up Short

Nebraska Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Osceola Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 54-42 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Nebraska Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Barrett Koontz, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Otte, who posted 17 points and five rebounds.

Kelby Neujahr was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-4 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Osceola. Brayden Santos was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Nebraska Lutheran now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Osceola, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6.

Nebraska Lutheran will face off against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Nebraska Lutheran is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season. As for Osceola, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cornerstone Christian School at 7:30 p.m.
