Baseball Recap: Willow Glen Finds Home Field Redemption Against Branham

There's no place like home for Willow Glen, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Branham Bruins a 7-0 shutout on Wednesday. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 5-2 victory the Bruins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Willow Glen got a great performance from Dante Pini as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Pini has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chris Hudson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Korba, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Willow Glen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Willow Glen's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Branham, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-5.

Willow Glen will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bruins: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
