Baseball Game Preview: Petersburg Vikings vs. Philip Barbour Colts

The Petersburg Vikings will face off against the Philip Barbour Colts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Petersburg's victory against Tygarts Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Tuesday. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Philip Barbour had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Colts have posted against the Tigers since April 13, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Tyler Sisson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. Kale Wolfe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Philip Barbour's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Petersburg, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
