Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Victories for Stone Memorial

Stone Memorial had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt York Institute on Friday. Stone Memorial blew past York Institute 13-0. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

York Institute's batters probably weren't too happy with Kenzie Jackson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up a single walk). Jackson has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ashely Whittenburg was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Breanna Looper was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Stone Memorial's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for York Institute, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Stone Memorial beat York Institute by a score of 17-0 later that day.
