Football Recap: Shaw Starts Season with Win Against Central Hinds Academy

Shaw gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 23-6 win over the Central Hinds Academy Cougars.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jay Shuff, who rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 90 yards and a pair of TDs.

Central Hinds Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Shaw will take on Leland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Hinds Academy, they will face off against North Delta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
