Basketball Recap: Goshen Drops Season-High Score on Mccutcheon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goshen). They walked away with a 67-55 win over the McCutcheon Mavericks on Saturday. With that victory, the RedHawks brought their scoring average up to 51.8 points per game.

Goshen got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Levi Sawatzky out in front who went 6 for 14 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Cline, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Goshen was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

McCutcheon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Baker, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Pritzel, who put up nine points.

Goshen now has a winning record of 5-4. As for McCutcheon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Goshen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-49 loss against La Porte on the 28th. As for McCutcheon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 84-50 defeat against Northridge on the 28th.
