Softball Recap: Monroe Central Has No Trouble Against Shenandoah

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Martins Ferry, Monroe Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Shenandoah Zeps as they made off with a 14-1 victory. That looming 14-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Seminoles yet this season.

Karlie Haslam made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Monroe Central got a massive performance out of Jadyn Miller, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Brylee McFredrick was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Monroe Central's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Shenandoah, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Coming up, Monroe Central will challenge Shadyside at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Seminoles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shenandoah, they will take on Caldwell at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Redskins' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Zeps' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
