The David Crockett Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Gibbs Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (David Crockett 2.5, Gibbs 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
David Crockett is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Unicoi County on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. Pioneers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Blue Devils since on Wednesday.

Madelyn Dulaney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, David Crockett saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Mango, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Gibbs waltzed into their match on Wednesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They came out on top against the Fighting Cocks by a score of 4-0. The Eagles' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last five games.
Brianna Baker was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
Gibbs pushed their record up to 36-3 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for David Crockett, they moved to 22-9-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. David Crockett hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Gibbs struggles in that department as they've averaged .430. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
