Softball Game Preview: Hersey Huskies vs. Vernon Hills Cougars

The Hersey Huskies will face off against the Vernon Hills Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Friday just wasn't the day for Hersey's offense. They fell just short of Conant by a score of 1-0 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Vernon Hills also failed to score in their most recent game. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maine West on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

Vernon Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Hersey, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Hersey beat Vernon Hills 11-8 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
