Basketball Recap: Jefferson County Takes a Loss

With Jefferson County's effective field goal percentage at 100% and Aucilla Christian's at 38% on Saturday, the final result was to be expected on Saturday. The Jefferson County Tigers fell 51-42 to the Aucilla Christian Warriors. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Jefferson County lost, don't look at Carlos McBride. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points and eight assists. Another player making a difference was Greg Hagan, who earned eight points along with six boards and three blocks.

Aucilla Christian was led to victory by Ethan Bass and Ben Faglie. Bass had 20 points and seven steals, while Faglie almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bass has scored at least a third of Aucilla Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Baggett, who put up six points.

Jefferson County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Aucilla Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing St. John Lutheran the next time they take the court. Jefferson County will head out to face St. John Lutheran at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, while Aucilla Christian will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
