Spoto piles up the points against Blake

Recap: Spoto Spartans vs. Blake Yellow Jackets

Make it 12 blowout wins for the Spoto Spartans this season. They really took it to Blake for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-25 win at home. With Spoto ahead 38-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Spoto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayla Griffin led the charge by scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Suri Thomas, who scored 17 points along with three steals.

Spoto has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Blake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spoto and Strawberry Crest will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Strawberry Crest comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Blake, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chamberlain at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Chamberlain is ranked 519th, while Blake is ranked 496th).
