Los Altos came tearing into Friday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Mountain View Spartans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 on Wednesday.

Kai MacQuiddy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

MacQuiddy wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Chiochios, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Los Altos pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.

Los Altos and Mountain View should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Eagles will square off against Aptos at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (122 vs. 591). Meanwhile, Mountain View (ranked 267th) will meet Gunn (ranked 580th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
