Baseball Recap: Viewmont's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Viewmont had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Bonneville Lakers. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Beckham Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 15 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Viewmont let Aiden Groves and Kade Marriott run wild. Groves went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Marriott went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Groves has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Boston Williams, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Viewmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Viewmont's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bonneville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-18.

Viewmont will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lakers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
